Some people are interested in the mafia, some like the gunslingers of yore; I'm intrigued by Japan's crime-syndicate, the Yakuza. So stories like this one catch my eye:
Sayonara, mobsters; neighbors oust Japanese gangs
The story goes on to chart some specific cases and examines the decline of tolerance for gang activity in various cities. Apparently, people are taking the Yakuza to court a lot lately. Wonder how that will all turn out in the end? If the Yakuza fade from public existence, what will happen to all the ink?TOKYO – Having one Japanese gang headquartered in their neighborhood was bad enough. When a rival mob tried to move in, the neighbors did something that was once almost unthinkable. They organized, called the cops, went to court to evict the newcomers, and won.
